Laura T. Baker, 84, passed away on Dec. 30, 2019 at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette. Laura was born on Dec. 7, 1935 in Moberly, Missouri to the late Murray and Helen (Gilhams) Tesh. She was a 1953 graduate of Camden High School. She received her Bachelor's degree from Indiana University and her Masters degree from Purdue University.

She married Daniel G. Baker on Dec. 30 1956 and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2011.

Mrs. Baker taught English at Delphi Community High School for 27 years.

She was a former member of the Delphi Community School Board, life member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Indiana University, a member of the Indiana State Teachers Association, a member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church where she served an organist.

Laura enjoyed playing bridge, music, reading and when she was in her 50's, she loved scuba diving.

She is survived by her children: Pat Baker (Janet) of Delphi, and David Jay Baker (Debbie) of Sturgis, Michigan; daughter-in-law, Jill Baker of Terre Haute and a brother, Tom Tesh (Bonnie) of Caliente, NV; special cousin, Nancy Wagner of Lafayette; grandchildren: Nathan Baker (Mia), Scott Baker (Erica), Julie Moyers (A.J.), Alex Baker, Bernie Baker (Liz) and 6 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Paul Baker.

Friends and family will gather from Noon until the beginning of the 1:00 p.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2019 at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Rev. John Westfall will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Laura's memory may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
