Thelma Phillips (Stacey) - Class Of 1939

Mrs. Thelma E. Stacey, 68, of 406 North Washington Street, Delphi, departed this life at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 1989, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette, where she had been a patient for five days. Mrs. Stacey had resided at St. Anthony's Healthcare for the past three months. Born on January 3, 1921, in Kokomo, Indiana, she was the daughter of John T. Phillips and Mary Booth. On September 19, 1959, she was married in Delphi to Ernest Stacey, and he preceded her in passing in 1962. Mrs. Stacey had been a resident of Delphi since she was one year old, and attended Delphi schools. She had worked at Bryan Manufacturing in Monticello for 12 years. Mrs. Stacey attended the Delphi Wesleyan Church, and was a member of the Delphi Senior Citizens. Surviving are her stepmother, Evaleen Phillips of Delphi; three sons, William "Bill” Maxwell of Oxford, Ohio, Jim Maxwell of Tuscon, Arizona, and Kenneth Boyles of Camden; two daughters, Mrs. Marilyn Hudson of Lafayette and Teresa Stacey of Delphi; three brothers, Paul Phillips of Indianapolis, Lloyd Phillips of Delphi, and Rick Phillips of Mentone, Indiana; two sisters. Jean Martin of Rossville and Patricia Abbott of Delphi; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by one sister.
