Don Barnett - Class Of 1952

Donald P. "Barny" Barnett, 62, of Rt. 2, Delphi, died at 11:05 a.m. Jan. 26, 1996, at his home. Born June 19, 1933, in Lafayette, he was the son of James Harrison and Gladys Pearl Merkle Barnett. His marriage was on Oct. 28, 1958, in Delphi, to Jacquolene "Jackie" Macke, who survives. A graduate of Delphi High School, he served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He worked 25 years at Eli Lilly Laboratories in Lafayette. He worked in the T-10 department Retiring as a supervisor in May of 1991. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi and attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello, and was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post 75. Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara Barnett of Delphi, Patricia Belyeu of Orlando, Fla., and Conniece Merson of Woodby Island, Wash.; two sons Robert Barnett of Lafayette and Tab Barnett of Delphi; a brother John Barnette of Delphi; three sisters, June Mikesell of Monks Corner, S.C., Mae Heath of Monticello, and Ruth Hinds of Kokomo; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers. Services were Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father James R. Goodrum and Father Peter Vanderkolk officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
