Jerry D. (Jake) Myers, 24, 2537 Edgewood St., Portage, son of Mrs. Lela Myers of Ockley, died of a heart attack in his home Wednesday evening of last week. Born at Ockley, he was married in 1964 to Sandra Sipes of Gary. He attended Delphi High School and was employed in the railroad yards at the Gary Plant of the Inland Steel Corporation. Surviving with the widow and mother are two sons, Jerry and Richie; four sisters, Mrs. Jane Faurote and Mrs. Thelma Manis, both of Lafayette, Mrs. Mary Jo Orman of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mrs. Carol Lauderdale of Gary, and four brothers, Glen of Indianapolis, Wayne of San Bernardino, Calif., John of Bloomington and William, in the Navy and on his way to Vietnam. Final rites were Monday morning in Assembly of God Church in East Gary with the Rev. Denver L. Baker officiating. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery at Portage.
