Thanks and Best Wishes Posted Thursday, December 20, 2012 03:12 PM I didn't realize it in high school, but the things we do and the projects we associate ourselves with have a significant impact in our future. That said, I would like to thank Mrs. Brettnacher for her influence and education during my time at Delphi. I wasn't one of the "elite" students in high school, but Mrs. Brettnacher allowed me into her advanced English class so that my schedule would afford me the opportunity to write for the Parnassus. I had a great deal of respect for her and tried my hardest in her advanced English course(s). Thanks to her challenging me and my abilities, English became one of my favorite subjects in high school, in my Bachelor's work and then again in my Master's work. So what about the Parnassus? I had the opportunity to use that experience and write for the Ball State Daily News for two academic years. Then the dominoes fell. Because of writing for the paper, I became acquainted with members of the Ball State athletic department and worked there as a student assistant. Because of the student assistant job, I was offered a graduate assistantship which led to my current career in athletic compliance at Texas A&M! In short, Mrs. Brettnacher not only pushed me to achieve more intellectually, but also opened the doors for me in ways I couldn't have imagined. Thanks so much for your teaching and encouragement. Enjoy the many years ahead of retirement and your new endeavors! Ryne Hillenberg - Class of 2004 |

RE: Thanks and Best Wishes Posted Saturday, December 29, 2012 07:15 PM Hi Ryne! You were an awesome student! And definitely one of the "elite." And your success was just a matter of all that natural talent rising to the surface. I thrilled to read that you completed a Master's degree, and that you're working at Texas A&M. Congratulations...and thanks! I hope you'll stay in touch, because I would love to hear about your career! Mrs. B. |
