Larry Peterson

Larry Dean Peterson Sr., 72, of rural Delphi, passed away Monday-September 18, 2023, at 2:24am, at his residence. He was born July 31, 1951, in Lafayette, to the late Thomas & Thelma Randle Peterson Jr. His marriage was to Janet S. Mull, at his parents’ house near Delphi, on October 11, 1969, and she survives. Larry graduated from Delphi High School in 1969. He worked at the former Chemtron Factory in Monticello for 16 years, then for the former Kerlin Feed Mill in Delphi, and finally for the former Dick Krieg Motor’s in Delphi, now Mann Chevrolet, as part’s manager for 13 years. He also loved working around his farm. They raised black angus cattle, and bailed hay, and cash rented the tillable land to area farmers. He was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post 75 in Delphi. He enjoyed hunting & fishing, mushroom hunting, and camping and boating on the Wabash with his family and friends. He missed his beloved dog, Radar. Larry dearly loved his family. They were his life. He enjoyed having all of them at his house for any occasion, and always supported his grandchildren & great grandchildren in their school and sporting activities. Surviving: wife-Janet S. Peterson of Delphi, daughter-Candace & Monte Barrick of Cave Creek, AZ, son-Larry D. Peterson Jr & Susie Mummert of Delphi. Grandchildren: Caleb & Katie Peterson, Hayden & Brooke Peterson, Christian Burns, David William “Billy” Barrick, Zach Weaver, Jessica & Carmen Kennedy. Great grandchildren: Kayda Peterson, Lyndie Ticen, Waylon Peterson, & Caiden Burns. Preceded in death by a grandson Alex Barrick, a great granddaughter Tenley Sky. Services: Visitation will be Thursday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. His funeral service will be there on Friday at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Pleasant Run Cemetery, rural Delphi. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association or the American Heart Association, envelopes available at the funeral home.
