Doris L. Houser Shepard, 84, of Delphi, passed away Wednesday-April 10, 2024, at 10:32am, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. She was born on January 7, 1940, near Delphi, to the late Dale & Bessie Siefert Houser. Her marriage was to John A. "Jack" Shepard, on June 24, 1960, in Delphi, and he preceded her in death on February 25, 2008. Doris was a 1958 graduate of Delphi High School. She worked for over 30 years at the Landis & Gyr in Lafayette, retiring from there, and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi. She was a member of the Delphi American Legion and Delphi VFW Auxiliary's. Doris was an avid reader and liked to paint. She was involved in the women's bowling league in Delphi for several years. She enjoyed working in her yard and maintaining the many flower gardens she planted around her home, and keeping her yard mowed just right. She and her husband wintered in Florida for many years, and they lived their full time for several years before moving back to Delphi. Doris loved to be near the water and enjoyed walking on the beach. Doris loved Purdue men's basketball, her dog, and playing card games with her family. Doris dearly loved her family and enjoyed being with them for all occasions. 
Surviving: son-Kevin & Penny Shepard of West Lafayette, grandsons: Matthew J. Shepard, Chris & Tina Shepard, Justin B. Shepard. Great grandchildren: Jackson, Jonathan, & Jaxson. Sister-Nancy Isaacs of Delphi, brother-John Houser of Delphi. Preceded by 2 son's Bradley & Mitchell, 6 brother's Wayne, Junior, Clayton, Gene, Danny, & Richard, 2 sister's Mary & Ruby. Services: The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Private family interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
