Jerry Bryant

Jerry L. Bryant of Mesa, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, in hospice in Arizona.

Jerry grew up on a farm north of Delphi and attended Yeoman Grade School and Delphi High School. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Aviation Technology and worked 27 years for General Motors.

He married the former Mary Jo Shockley of Camden. They moved to Arizona in 1988 and purchased a 100-year-old restaurant close to Superstition Mountain known as Tortilla Flat. For ten years, the Bryants ran the restaurant where people stood in line to enjoy the great food items and ice cream, rustic décor, the $1 bills that lined the walls, the country store, and the U.S. Post Office.

Jerry also volunteered as part of a sheriff posse in Mesa for a number of years.

Surviving with his wife are two children, Brian Bryant and Sherri Belassen, and four grandchildren.

Cremation and service were held in Mesa. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Mesa, or any other hospice of donor’s choice.
