Marvin Bowman - Class Of 1951

Marvin Bowman, of Delphi, passed away on June 18, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. Marvin was born in rural Carroll County on December 24, 1932 to the late Hugh E. and F. Fern (Kelley) Bowman. He was a 1951 graduate of Delphi High School and graduated from Aviation Mechanical & Electrical Schools.

He was formerly married to Opal P. (Martin) Bowman.

Mr. Bowman was a private pilot for Warren Atkinson & Co. in Indianapolis and worked at the Purdue Airport, Lima Airport in Lima, Ohio and Lake Central/TWA Airlines. He retired from General Foods and TRW, in Lafayette where he held positions as a maintenance electrician.

Mr. Bowman was a member of the United Methodist Church and past member of Fraternal Order of Eagles #347 in Lafayette. Heservedin numerous Union leadership positions.

Marvin enjoyed flying his planes he owned and constructed since the late 50’s. He also enjoyed farming part time.

He is survived by his daughters: Debra Whiteman (Doug) of Cutler, Barbara Goslee (Bruce) of Syracuse, Sandra Bowman of Lafayette; sister, Judy Brooks of Bringhurst; grandchildren: Matthew Whiteman (Melissa) of Delphi, Melissa Kingsbury (Matthew) of Frankfort, IL, Aimee Hagg (Brad) of Warsaw and Aaron Goslee (McKenna) of Noblesville; and 9 great grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will take place at Ball Hill Cemetery in Cutler, Indiana at 3:30 p.m. on June 22, 2016. Brad Burton will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Marvin’s memory may be made to the donor’s choice of charities.
