Ruthe Louise Greenup (Liebert)

Ruth L. Greenup Liebert, 89, of rural Delphi, died Tues-Jan 15, 2013 at 5:59pm, at White Oak Health Campus-Monticello. She had been a resident there since April 2011. She was born Mar 12, 1923 on their family farm in Deer Creek Township, Carroll County, to the late Joe & Eunice Stewart Greenup. Her marriage was to Virgil C. Liebert in Delphi, on Dec 19, 1943, and he preceded her in death on Jan 29, 1983. She graduated from Delphi High School in 1941. She first worked in bookkeeping at the former Union Bank & Trust-Delphi, for a few years, then was the bookkeeper at Loy Roofing Co.,-Delphi for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She helped her husband on their farm, and was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church-Delphi, and volunteered as the church bookkeeper for many years. Was a life member of the Friends of the Delphi Public Library; was involved with and managed the Carroll County Food Pantry for many years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed bird watching, traveling, and dearly loved her family, and the many gatherings and events the shared together.

Surviving are two daughters, Marge (Johnny) Franklin and Susie McCormick, both of Delphi; son, David (Teresa) Liebert, of Delphi; daughter-in-law, Sandy Liebert, of Delphi; nine grandchildren, John L. Franklin, of Delphi, Ann Liebert, of Indianapolis, Maggie (Greg) Michael, of Rossville, Eran (Robynne) McCormick, of Delphi, Cathy (Jon) Pulley, of Orange City, Fla., Matt (Murri) Franklin, of Chesterton, Sara Liebert (fiancé: Tobe Leazenby), of Delphi; Jesse (Amanda) Liebert, of Indianapolis; and Liza (Jeremy) Hayden, of West Lafayette; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son Jim.

Friends may call Friday 5 to 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. Funeral service there Saturday 11a.m.; the Rev. Bill McLean officiating. Burial at Morning Heights Cemetery-Delphi. Memorial contributions to the 1st Presbyterian Church or the Friends of the Delphi Public Library, envelopes available at the funeral home.
