Bill Holmes

 William Harrison Holmes, 68, of Browns River Road in Essex Center, Vt., died on March 28, 1996, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.
  Born May 27, 1927, in Delphi, he was the son of Russell and Hilda Harrison Holmes.  His marriage was in 1950 in Frankfort to Mary J. Cash, who survives.
  He was educated in Delphi and was a 1945 graduate of Delphi High School and was a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in air transportation.
  He was employed at General Electric in Burlington, Vt., for 10 years and was self-employed as a remodeling contractor for many years in the Chittenden County, Vt., area.
  A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 75 in Delphi and was an Eagle Scout.
  He was an avid reader, gardener, and bird watcher as well as a fine wood craftsman.  He shared his talents with his family and friends through many hand-crafted gifts.
  Surviving with his wife, of Essex Junction, are one daughter, Josa Beth Mauzy of Streator, Ill.; two sons, William A. Holmes and Russell T. Holmes, both of Essex Junction; one brother, Joe Holmes, of Freeport, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
  A memorial service was held Saturday in Essex Junction.
