Earl Newell - Class Of 1905

  Earl B. Newell, 87, Rt. 4, Delphi, died at 3 a.m. Thursday at Turtle Creek Nursing Home, Monticello.
  Born in Carroll County Nov. 14,1885, he was the son of Henry and Ida Baum Newell.  He was married March 28, 1923, to Maude Powell, who died Feb. 1, 1964.
  Newell was a 1911 graduate of Purdue University with a master's degree in civil engineering.  He worked with the Army Corps of Engineers before becoming a farmer.
  He was a 50-year member of Delphi Masonic Lodge, Delphi Odd Fellows and Carroll County Farm Bureau, and also a member of Master Farmers organization and Delphi Presbyterian Church.
  Surviving are one son, Kenneth, Rt. 4, Delphi; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Mills, Rt. 1, Delphi, and Mrs. Pat (June) Million, Rt. 2, Monticello; one sister, Mrs. Anna May Scott, Rt. 4, Delphi; and nine grandchildren.  One sister preceded him in death.
  Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Lloyd Funeral Home with Rev. Frederick Lanan officiating.  Burial was in the Delphi IOOF Cemetery.
