Harold E. "Shorty" Nipple, 65, died at 4:04 PM Tuesday, June 7, 1994, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center in Lafayette. Born March 5, 1929, he graduated from Rockfield High School in 1947. He married Beverly J. Downham on June 27, 1953; she survives. Mr. Nipple was general maintenance engineer for the Delphi Community School Corp. From March 1952 until retiring in 1985, he was an ironworker. He served in the Navy from Jan. 30, 1948, until Jan. 29, 1952. He was a member of Rockfield Presbyterian Church, American Legion Post 75 in Delphi, Indiana Volunteer Fireman's Association and Indiana Sheriff's Association. Surviving with his wife are three sons, Brian Greg Nipple of Rockfield, Steve Nipple of Brownsburg, and Mike Nipple of Delphi; two brothers, Gerald Hank Nipple and Richard Nipple, both of Rockfield; and a sister, Mrs. Mable Lake of Delphi.
