Hubert Ebbinghaus

Hubert T. Ebbinghaus, 83, Lebanon, retired educator, administrator and farmer, died Thursday in the Home Hospital, Lafayette. (1978) Funeral services were held Saturday at the Russell and Hitch Funeral Home at Lebanon. The Rev. Raymond Duff officiated and burial was in the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, Lafayette. A native of Roann, the deceased, son of William H. and Roxie Anna (Flora) Ebbinghaus was born Feb. 13, 1895. He received his bachelor of science degree at Purdue University in 1919 and was awarded the master of science degree in education at Purdue in 1935. He was a teacher 43 years, and served as principal and vocational teacher in Knox County 20 years. He also managed the Knox County Farm Bureau Co-Op three years, and farmed his own farm in Knox County from 1933 to 1945 until he moved to Boone County. He was honored at Purdue University by Sears-Roebuck for honorable and distinguished service to his teaching profession. He married LeeOata F. Morehouse in 1921 and she survives, along with three children, James, Prospect, Ill.; Richard, Butlerville: Mrs. Richard Winner, California; 10 grandchildren, and a brother, Leonard Ebbinghaus, Laketon.
