My favorite memory of Bob was his character in the DCHS comedy, “Arsenic and Old Lace.” He played a brother who believed he was Teddy Roosevelt (in uniform). Each time Teddy went upstairs, he yelled "Charge!" and took the stairs at a run, imitating Roosevelt's famous charge up San Juan Hill. It made a lasting impression on this seventh- grader.
Packard, as some of us called him, was such a good friend! On Sunday, a few of us met at the Roxy for a matinee. In those days, a coke and a candy bar cost 15 cents, and admission was 20 cents! Does that date us?
I too was a cast member of Arsenic & Old Lace. I was Officer Brophy. Bob Packard was a good actor & we all had a lot of fun working on that play. I can still see him in his charge. Rest in peace Pack.
