Martha Melody Small Martin, 61, of 1845 N SR 25 Delphi, died Sunday, Feb 26, 2012 at 1:15 a.m. at her residence. She had battled a brain tumor since October 2011. She was born Apr 11, 1950 in Lafayette, to the late James David & Ina Wasil Krywobok Small. Her marriage was to Jerry Martin in Delphi, on Jan 1, 1979, and he survives. She was a 1969 graduate of Delphi High School, and received her beautician degree from the Lafayette Beauty Academy. She worked at Carroll Manor Home near Delphi for 14 years as a cook, and also cooked at various restaurants in Delphi. She and her husband owned Deer Creek Falls Riding Stable for many years, and she formerly owned a beauty salon in Delphi. She was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church, and went on two mission trips to Jamaica with her husband and a team from the church building homes for the needy there. She enjoyed making jewelry and crafts, was incredibly artistic, loved the outdoors, nature, and painted murals around Delphi at churches, businesses, homes and Carroll Manor. She loved cooking and baking for her family, who she dearly loved. She adored her grandchildren, and enjoyed being with them at family gatherings and their events.


Survivors include her husband, Jerry Martin of Delphi; daughters Stacy Moriarty (fiance David Syphers) of Aurora, Colo., Heather Miller (companion: Joe Childress) of Lafayette, and Nicole Hartman (companion: Gary) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons Cody Martin (wife: Billie) of Delphi, and Michael Martin (wife: Jeni) of Lafayette; brothers Greg Small (wife: Barb) of Lafayette, Art Small (wife: Lynette) of Carmel, and Jim Small (wife: Carla) of Greenwood; 9 grandchildren, Nicole, Kennedy, Kerrigan, Kaden, Michael Jr., Carma-Jo, Taylor, Charlotte and Brayden, and one great granddaughter, Mersai.

Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. until her funeral at 1 p.m. at the Delphi United Methodist Church, 1796 U.S. 421 N. Rev's Todd Ladd & Tim Stewart; Pastor Barb Loft officiating.
