Robert Delaney - Class Of 1931

  Robert J. Delaney, 85, of Delphi, died at 9:30 a.m. July 17, 1998, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.  He had been hospitalized eight days.
  Born March 21, 1913, in Delphi, he was the son of John T. and Edna Bever Delaney.  He married Grace Hibner on Oct. 11, 1940, in Delphi, and she survives.
  A 1931 graduate of Delphi High School, he worked at Globe Valve Corp. for 42 years, retiring in 1981.
  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi, and Knights of Columbus.
  Mr. Delaney was active in the men's bowling leagues in Delphi for many years and enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.
  Also surviving are two sons, Robert J. Delaney of Richmond and James P. Delaney of Carmel; two daughters, Joann P. Scherschel of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kathleen "Kathy" Rider of Monticello; a brother, Charles W. Delaney of Delphi; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by one son and three brothers.
  Services were Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Peter Vanderkolk officiating.  Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
