Edgar Ellis "Bud" Fountain, 91, died Thurs.-June 11, 2015 at 8:10am, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He was born June 15, 1923 Northwest of Delphi, to the late Edgar Eli & N. Louisa Carithers Fountain. His marriage was to Jean Carolyn Landes at her parents home near Flora, on Feb. 24, 1946, and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1995. He was a 1941 graduate of Delphi High School. He was a life long farmer; in his younger years, he hauled materials and equipment for Ranger Industries, did custom hay bailing, corn shelling, anhydrous ammonia application, and hauled lime and fertilizer. He was a regular at the former Dog House & Sandwich Shop restaurant's in Delphi. He lived all of his life Northwest of Delphi, and spent many winters in Estero, FL, where he was known as "popcorn." He had attended the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi, and was a member of the Chalmers VFW. He enjoyed fishing, and playing shuffle board while in FL. He liked to go to a local vegetable market in FL, purchase goods, and then he would sell them to his neighbor's at his mobile home park there. Surviving: daughter-Carol & David Miller of Brookston; sons: Joe & Liz Fountain of Lafayette, Thomas E. Fountain of LaPorte, Don & Linda Fountain of Fisherville, KY; 10 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by a sister Martha Jean Miller, a brother Robert who was killed in action over Hannover, Germany. Services: Friends may call Monday from 5-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service there Tuesday 11am, Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating. Burial at Pleasant Run Cemetery, rural Carroll County.
