Dan Clawson

Dan Walter Clawson, 54, Delphi, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 1983, at Home Hospital as a result of a car-semi accident near Monitor.
  Born March 15, 1929, at West Lebanon, he was the son of Walter and Delores Fenters Clawson.  On Aug. 12, 1954, his marriage was in Delphi to Mary Shaffer.  She survives.
  Mr. Clawson was Republican candidate for mayor of the City of Delphi at the time of his death and owner and operator of Clawson Appliances in Delphi and Monticello.
  A 1947 graduate of Delphi High School, he attended Purdue and Indiana Universities.  His memberships include Delphi United Methodist Church, Retired Officers Association, Purdue Alumni Association and Carroll County A.R.C.  He was a retired colonel in the Army Reserve and a graduate of The Command and General Staff College in Kansas City, Mo.
  Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Mike (Anita) Force, Delphi, and Sara Clawson, Wabash; three sons, Eric, Chalmers, Jay, Monticello, and Patrick, Delphi; his step-mother, Mary Smock Clawson, Delphi; two sisters, Barbara Walker, Hammond, La., and Kay Burnett, Arlington, Va.; and two grandsons. One daughter, Paula, preceded him in death.
  Funeral services were Sunday at Horn-Thompson Funeral Home, Delphi, with Rev. Donald Ashley officiating.  Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
