Della C. Herr Craig, 87, of Delphi, died Mon.-Oct. 10, 2016 at 5am at White Oak Health Campus, Monticello. She had been a resident there for 1 year. She was born Sept. 1, 1929 in Madison Township, Carroll County, IN, to the late Maurice & Hazel Long Herr. Her marriage was to Dale A. Craig in Oxford, on Mar. 27, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Apr. 5, 1992. She was a 1947 graduate of Delphi High School. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on their farm, and worked as a legal secretary for Ives & Ives Law Office in Delphi, for over 40 years. She was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church, and a member of the Light Circle of the church. She helped with funeral dinners, working on the weekly bulletin, and the yearly church fundraising dinner, volunteering her time and baked goods. She belonged to the Modern Mrs. Homemakers Club, and after her husband died, she would winter in Florida with her daughter. She enjoyed reading, ceramics, puzzles, and loved to bake. She dearly loved her family, that was her best thing to do, spend time with them. Surviving: daughter-Caryn C. Noonkester of Delphi; son-Jeff & Denise Craig of Delphi; sisters: Noreeta Pearson of Columbia City, Cora & Larry Ware of Ft. Myers, FL, Cheryl Beard of Lafayette; brothers: Dick & Carrie Herr of Delong, FL, Leonard & Rita Herr of Lafayette, Duane & Beth Herr of Reynolds; grandchildren: Jenna & Kyle Richardson, Bradly & Brooke Allen; great grandchildren: Knox & Kynzley Richardson; Alena & Cooper Allen. Preceded in death by a son in law Daniel L. Noonkester; 2 sister’s; 2 brother’s. Services: Friends may call Thursday from 4-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service Friday, 10:30am, at the Delphi United Methodist Church, Rev. Todd Ladd officiating, and she will lie in state 1 hour prior to her service. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
