DELPHI -- Larry E. Hitchcock, 77, of 505 Riley Road, Delphi, died at 3:40 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011, at Regency Healthcare in Lafayette. He had battled ALS disease.

He was born Nov. 19, 1933, in Rock Island, Tenn., to the late Leonard and Julia Hash Hitchcock.

He married Susan Roach Mann in Delphi. She survives.

He was a 1952 graduate of Delphi High School, and received his B.S. in business management from Ball State University, where he was a charter member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

He worked for RCA in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring from there.

He was in the U.S. Army, and a member of the Delphi American Legion Post 75.

He was baptized in the First Presbyterian Church, Delphi. He enjoyed playing golf, was an avid reader and loved to travel.

Surviving are two stepdaughters, Vicki Moore of Noblesville and Catherine Kelly of Rossville; a stepson, Dave Mann (wife: LeeAnn) of Flora; three sisters; Dorothy Wray of Delphi, Arminda Bewley (husband: Bill) of Waco, Texas, and Faye Underhill (husband: Gerry) of Delphi.

Also surviving are brother-in-laws, Robert Roach (wife: Nancy) of Carmel and Jack "Junior" Orr of Delphi.

A loving grandfather to his step-grandchildren, Amber Kelly, Jennifer Kelly, Haleigh Moore, Payton Moore, Connor Mann. Preceded in death by a sister, Helen Orr.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until his funeral at 1 p.m. Thursday, at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. The Rev Bill McLean will officiate, with burial at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi, with Delphi & Camden American Legion, and Delphi VFW Military Rites.
