Tillman Abbott

  Tillman W. Abbott, 59, of Rt. 6, Rensselaer, formerly of Delphi, died at 9:40 a.m. July 23, 1994 in the University of St. Louis Health and Science Center, where he had been a patient two weeks.
  Born June 13, 1935, in Benton County, he was the son of Coy T. and Mabel E. Claunch Abbott.  His marriage was on Oct. 9, 1954, in Delphi, to Patricia Ann Reifert, who died Oct. 27, 1992.
  He had lived in Delphi until moving to Leesburg in 1981, five years later, he moved to Rensselaer.
  He was a 1953 graduate of Delphi High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and served six years in the Indiana National Guard.
  He was a Farm Bureau Insurance agent for more than 30 years in Carroll and Jasper counties, and in mid-north Indiana.  He formerly owned the Koors-Abbott Insurance Agency in Warsaw, retiring in 1992.  He also had farmed in Carroll County.
  He was a former Little League coach in Delphi, and played in the men's fast-pitch softball league in Delphi.
  He was a member, elder, and Sunday school teacher at the Iroquois Valley Christian Church in Rensselaer, and a former member, elder, and Sunday school teacher at the Delphi Christian Church.
  He enjoyed golf and hunting.
  Surviving are three sons, Farris W. Abbott of Rt. 2, Camden, John C. Abbott of Carterville, Ill, and Dirk B. Abbott of Rensselaer; three brothers, Dave Abbott of Silver Lake, Coy R. "Dick" Abbott of Delphi, and Arnold L. Abbott of Rt. 3, Delphi; three sisters, Fern "Jack" Stiver of Elkhart, Geneva Dowell of Lafayette, and Louise Comer of West Lafayette; his step-mother, Lula Abbott of Somerset, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.  One sister and one brother preceded him in death.
  Services were today a Horn Funeral Home with Psto Paul Spickerman officiating.  Burial was in Camden Cemetery with American Legion Rites.
