Lewis Schock - Class Of 1934

Infantile paralysis, continuing its ravages in several northern Indiana counties, claimed its first fatality in Carroll county during the week. Lewis Schock, 24, of Adams township, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orvel Schock, well known residents of the county, died Saturday night at 11 o'clock at Robert Long hospital in Indianapolis, where he was taken Friday, after his family learned that he was suffering from the dread disease. The youths father is a state tax official and was formerly Carroll county assessor and chairman of the Democratic central committee in the county. Lewis was married to Helen Winslow. A graduate of Delphi high school in 1934, he had lived in Carroll county all his life. Surviving, besides his parents and wife, are two sisters, Mrs. Lucille Duncan, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Lorene Ruggenkamp, Washington, D.C. Private funeral rites were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Burial was in the Hickory Grove cemetery.
