Mary Louise Martin - Class Of 1938

Mary Louise Powell Henderson, 77, of Lafayette, formerly of Delphi, died at 7:55 am. May 2, 1996, in Home Hospital, following a 16 day illness. Born Sept. 17, 1918, in Delphi, she was the daughter of Harry Austin and Effie Nancy Davis Martin. Her first marriage was to Harold Floyd Powell in 1935. He died in 1969. She was married to Harry M. Henderson on June 4, 1977, and he died in 1982. She had worked as a cook at the Delphi Middle School from 1955 until retiring in 1977. She also was an employee of Globe Valve Corp. from 1953 until 1955. She also had owned and operated a lunchroom across the street from Delphi High School in the 1950s. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lafayette, and a former member of the Delphi United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Surviving are one son, Harold L. Powell of Rt. 3, Delphi; two daughters, Evaleen Griffey of Seminole, Fla., and Patricia King; four grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters and two sisters. Services were Sunday at Horn Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald D. Harshman officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
