Phyllis Cole (Teel)

Phyllis M. Teel, 86, of rural Brookston, passed away on July 22, 2017 in West Lafayette, Indiana. She was born October 1, 1930 in Carroll County, Indiana to the late Russell and Ruth (Lowther) Cole and graduated from Delphi High School in 1948. On March 18, 1951 she married Robert G. Teel in Delphi, Indiana and he proceeded her in death on October 13, 2015. Phyllis worked for a short period after graduation from high school for a bank, but after marriage devoted her time to being a housewife and mother. She and her husband spent two years in Fort Smith, Arkansas as Bob served in the Army and then returned to White County where they farmed with her husband’s family until 2006. Phyllis enjoyed gardening and canning the produce each year to provide for her family. Phyllis was a member of the Zion Bethel Church in Monticello, Indiana. During early years, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and having her classes of girls to her home for fun activities. She was also active in the Worthwhile Club, a White County women’s group which met on a regular basis for fellowship. Surviving are a daughter, Melanie Nied (sp. Jim) of Maumee, Ohio, a son, Jeff Teel (sp. Angie) of Brookston, Indiana, and a daughter, Marcie Fairchild (sp. David) of West Chester, Ohio. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Dustin (sp. Leah) Walter, Danielle Helminiak (sp. Carson) and Dawn Walter (friend Nick Baldwin). She also has two great grandchildren, Alejandro Gonzalez and Avaya Helminiak. Preceded in death by a sister Dorothy King.Visitation will be at the Zion Bethel Church, 415 S. 3rd. Street, Monticello, Indiana from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 27. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 28. Pastor Jeff Messer officiating. Interment will be at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery in West Lafayette, Indiana.
