Robert Farmer - Class Of 1940

DELPHI — Robert George Farmer, 81, of Delphi died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. He had been a patient for a few days, and in ill health for the past few months.

He was born at Tippecanoe County on Oct. 3, 1922, to Leigh and Edna (Backster) Farmer. He married Wilma J. Sharpf at Delphi on March 6, 1942. She survives.

He was a 1940 graduate of Delphi High School.

He was a former member of the Burrows Christian Church.

He was a farmer all his life, farming in Carrollton township, Carroll County, retiring in 1985.

He was also a government surveyor for many years, working in Carroll County at the ACS Office in Delphi.

After retiring, he and his wife moved to Florida for 11 years, then returned to Delphi.

He enjoyed traveling.

Other survivors include daughter, Myra Lynn Thompson of Mountain City, Tenn.; grandson, Todd (Hope) Kinzer of Delphi; granddaughter, Lori (Jeff) Reust of Columbia City; and six great-grandchildren.

No services are planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation and may be made through the funeral home, 421 E. Main St., Delphi, IN 46923.
