Elmer Watkins - Class Of 1940

Elmer Paul Watkins, 44, of 316 East Monroe St., died at 5:35 a m Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette. He was admitted to the hospital Tuesday.

Born May 28, 1920, in Howard County, he was the Son of Theodore and Nora Watkins. His marriage on June 4, 1946, was to Lorene Cole, who survives.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church here, and was an employee of Alcoa in Lafayette.

Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Rise, and a son, Douglas, at home; a sister, Mrs. Jane Wray, Del­phi; a half brother, Nelson Sines, Delphi; a half sister, Mrs. Maiy Kate Kerker, Delphi; a stepbrother, Ralph Sines, Delphi, and four stepsisters, Mrs. Ruby Shultheis of Pyrmont and Mrs. Freida Goslee, Mrs. Marjorie Goyer and Mrs. Mildred Waymire, all of Delphi.

Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Cornell Funeral Home under auspices of the American Legion. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery.  Rev. James Rankin was in charge of Services.
