Watson McCormick - Class Of 1927

  Carroll Circuit Court Judge Watson C. McCormick, 64, of 203 N. Lafayette St., Delphi, died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday at the Carroll County Courthouse, apparently of a heart attack.  Judge McCormick was presenting his budget before the County Council at its meeting when he excused himself the second time to get a drink of water, it was reported.  He went to the adjoining office room of the County Assessor where he passed away unexpectedly in a chair while waiting for a glass of water.
  Born February 18, 1909, in Flora, he was the son of Thomas E. and Ella Clark McCormick.  His marriage June 25, 1939 in Delphi was to Elizabeth A. Amick.
  Judge McCormick was a member of the Delphi Presbyterian Church, Delta Chi Fraternity, Indiana Bar Association and Indiana Judges Association.  He attended Flora and Delphi schools, graduating in 1927.  He attended University of Southern Calfornia and was graduated from Indiana University Law School.
  He was elected Carroll Circuit Court Judge and took office Jan. 1, 1971.  He was the first Republican judge candidate since 1946 and was the third judge of this court.  He had a law practice in Delphi since 1935 and formerly served as prosecuting attorney for three terms, county attorney, attorney for the City of Delphi, Delphi Community School Corporation and several township trustees.
  Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Marilyn McCormick, of Indianapolis; two brothers, Thomas McCormick of Delphi and J.W. McCormick of Encinco, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Ina Bitner of Los Angeles, California.
  Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Lloyd Funeral Home in Delphi where services will be a 2 p.m. Friday.  The Rev. Fredrick Lanan will officate and interment will be Masonic Cemetery at Delphi.
  Carroll County Bar Association will hold a memorial service in the courtroom at Delphi at 3 p.m. today, Thursday.
