Mary Hefling

Mary I. Hefleng, 87, of Delphi, died at 10 p.m. Sept. 17, 1993, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient for one day. Born July 18, 1906, in Delphi, she was the daughter of William and Gertrude E. Sales Hefleng. She had lived in Delphi all her life. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School for eight years and then graduated from Delphi High School. She was a secretary for the former J.W. Widener Insurance Agency from 1926-1932, and then was secretary for Bradshaw Insurance Agency from 1932 until retiring in 1971. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was past president and past secretary of the church’s Altar & Rosary Society. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary and St. Elizabeth Healthcare Quilting Club, a member and former secretary of the Delphi Business and Professional Women’s Club, and had been treasurer of the former Carroll County T.B. Association. She also was a former secretary for the National Council of Catholic Women, serving the deanery, diocese, and the state organizations. After retiring, she was employed by the Carroll County Council on Aging for 13 years and served n the Area IV Advisory Council for 10 years. There are no immediate survivors. Services were Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Donald Hardebeck officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery. Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
