Charles Kerlin, Sr. - Class Of 1929

Charles M. Kerlin, Sr., 76, of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of Delphi, died June 18, 1987, in the Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center, Ft. Myers, Fla.
   Born April 7, 1911, in Delphi, he was the son of Cloyd and Georgia Gregg Kerlin.  His marriage in Lafayette on Jan. 15, 1949, was to Mary Pearson and she survives.
   A 1929 graduate of Delphi High School, he was a member of the basketball team during 1928 and 1929.  He attended Purdue University.  He owned and operated the C.M. Kerlin Elevator in Delphi from 1931 until his retirement in 1973.
   He was a member of the first Presbyterian Church in Delphi; Carroll County Country Club; Elks Club, Lafayette, and the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
   Also surviving are three sons, Robert Kerlin and James Kerlin, both of Delphi, and Charles Kerlin, Jr. of Rennesslear; two brothers, Mahlon Kerlin, Delphi and William Kerlin, Lafayette, and three grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
   Services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating.  Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. tonight.
   Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, Delphi.
