Raymond E. (Newt) Short, 77, Bedford, died Saturday, October 19, 1985, at Bloomington Convalescent Center.
  He was born April 13, 1908, in Tennessee to Newton and Mattie Morrisett Short.  On August 23, 1945 he married Marjorie Howell, and she survives.
  Surviving with the wife are one daughter; Norma Jean Snyder, Smithville; three brothers, William R. Short, Orlando, Fla.; Philip Short, Monticello, and Richard Short, Milwaukee, Wisc.; three half-brothers; Frederick Short, Indiana, Kenneth Short, Wabash, and Ralph Short, California; one half-sister, Mrs. Bob Lyons, Lafayette; three step-brothers; George Lester, Miss., Paul Lester, Wabash, and Charles Lester, Burnettsville.  Also surviving are five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
  Services and burial was held on Monday, at Bedford.
