Funeral rites were conducted on Monday morning from St. Joseph church in Delphi for Mildred Merrill Smith, 64, who died Friday night in Home hospital, Lafayette.  Msgr. Arthur Sego officiated and burial was in Masonic cemetery.  Eikenberry funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

     Mrs. Smith had been ill three weeks after suffering a heart attack.

     Born April 4, 1897 in Delphi, her parents were John M. and Christina Sagers Merrell.  In 1919 she married Omar Smith who died in 1954.

     Mrs. Smith was a member of the St. Joseph's church; Altar and Rosary Society; the Business and Professional Women's Club and the American Legion Auxilitary.

      Surviving are a son, Paul O., of Delphi; a daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Loro of Lafayette and a sister; Mrs. Todd Ratcliff of Delphi.
