Florence Guthrie Blue, formerly of Carroll County, died Thursday, October 19, 1978, at Phoenix, Ariz. Born near Rockfield, she was married in 1918 at Charleston, S. C., to Van C. Blue, who preceded her in death. A resident of Carrollton Township for most of her life, she spent the winters in Tucson, Ariz. for many years. Mrs. Blue attended Purdue University and following graduation from Indiana State University taught school in Flora, Clearwater, Fla., and South Dakota. She was a charter member of the Flora Needlecraft Club and a 50-year member of the Delphi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Episcopal Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of University Women, and National Retired Teachers Association. For several years she was a violin cellist with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. Surviving are one son, Dr. J. Guthrie Blue of Tucson; one daughter, Mrs. Harold E. (Susan) Taylor of Phoenix; and three grandchildren. Memorial services were conducted in Phoenix.
