Julia Gross (Cowdin) - Class Of 1896

Mrs. Julia Gros Cowdin, 81, a prominent resident of Delphi died Sunday afternoon at 2:30 in the Camden nursing home where she had been a patient for 11 days. Mrs. Cowdin had been in failing health for several months. born in Delphi January 10,1877, she was the daughter of Lewis and Harriet Barnett Gros, pioneer residents of the community. Her marriage to William L. Cowdin was an event of Oct. 5, 1899 in Delphi. A member of the Presbyterian church, Mrs. Cowdin was also active in Charle’s Carroll Chapter, DAR, Rose Chapter, OES and the Delphi Woman's club. Surviving are the husband; a, daughter, Mrs. Harriet Parker of Phoenix, Arizona; 4 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A son, William, preceded in death. Funeral rites were conducted at 2 p. m. Wednesday from the Jackson funeral home in Delphi. Rev. James Wm. Rankin officiated and burial was in Masonic cemetery. DAR services were held at 3:30 Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home and OES services at 7:30 Tuesday evening.
