Willard Lane - Class Of 1897

 

    Willard Hendricks Lane, 93, of Camden, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday at White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello.

     Prior to his retirement he had been a veterinarian in Carroll County for 50 years.  He was a member of the Camden Baptist Church and a 50-year member of the Camden Masonic Lodge, R and A.M. No. 211.

    Born in Delphi, March 28, 1876, he was the son of Richard and Elizabeth Rohrabaugh Lane.

    His marriage on March 4, 1903, at Rockfield was to Bertha June Atkinson, who survives.

    He graduated in 1911 from the McKipp Veterinarian College in Chicago.

    Surviving with the widow, one son, Richard W. Lane, Rt. 1, Camden; five daughters, Mrs. Edith Winitt of Chicago, Mrs. Jessie Satterstron of California, Mrs. Helen Paden of Northbrook, Ill, Mrs. Evelyn Hansen of Redwood City, Calif., and Mrs. Bertha Jo Devorraux of San Diego, Calif, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.  Six brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

    Services were held Monday at the Sullivan Funeral Home in Camden with Rev. Orland Gibbons officiating.  Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery at Delphi.
