John Barnett - Class Of 1945

John L. Barnett, 87, of rural Delphi, died Thurs.-Mar. 12, 2015 at 2pm at his residence. He was born July 20, 1927 in Tippecanoe Co., IN, to the late James & Gladys Merkle Barnett. His marriage was to Connie B. Macke in Delphi on Aug. 10, 1954, and she survives. He attended Delphi High School, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked for 43 years at the former Delphi Limestone Quarry, many of those years as Foreman, now U.S. Aggregates. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Delphi. He enjoyed bowling and woodworking. Surviving: wife-Connie B. Barnett of Delphi; daughters: Annett McWilliams of Louisville, KY, Reine Barnett of Lafayette, & Celia & Mike Tharp of Delphi; sister-Ruth & Glen Hines of Kokomo; grandchildren: Laura, Brande, John, Miranda, Ahmani, Marcus, Devin, & Molly. Preceded in death by a daughter Teresa; 4 brothers, 2 sisters. Services: A funeral Mass will be Monday-March 16, at 10am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi. Father Robert Williams officiating, burial at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Delphi, with military rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard. Abbott Funeral Home Inc., Delphi, in charge of arrangements.
