Robert Hill - Class Of 1946

Robert L. Hill, 73, of Delphi, died at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 16, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, where he had been a patient for five weeks. Born Aug. 30, 1928, in Delphi, he was the son of Ralph and Dortha Williams Hill. He married Rose Mary Spear on Feb. 10, 1946, in Rockfield, and she survives. Mr. Hill worked 33 1/2 years at ALCOA in the tub mill, retiring in October 1983. He attended Delphi High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran, stationed in Hawaii for two years. He was a former member of Delphi Christian Church and Delphi American Legion Post 75. He enjoyed bowling. Also surviving are two daughters, Marsha Crowe of Lafayette and Sandra McClain of Zionsville; a son, Daniel Hill of Kentucky; a sister, Phyllis Hildebrand of Lafayette; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services were Monday at Abbott Funeral Home with Pastor Herb Wingard officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi, with American Legion rites.
