Rose Marie Freitag Owens, 77, LeRoy, died March 17, 1999, at Manor Care in Normal. Born on September 5, 1921, in Ashland, Ill. She was the daughter of William and Anna Newell Freitag. She married Robert Owens on November 23, 1945, who survives. Mrs. Owens was a 1939 graduate of Delphi High School and received her teaching certificate from Illinois State Normal University. She taught school in LeRoy and was in the grocery business for 51 years before retiring in 1998. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of LeRoy where she served as Elder and Deacon. Survivng with her husband are: a Son, Bruce Owens, LeRoy; one brother, Jack Freitag, Delphi; two sisters, Kathryn Eckman, Lafayette, Helen Taylor, Oklahoma City, OK.; and three grandchildren. Services are Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Presbyterian Church in LeRoy. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in LeRoy. Memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church, LeRoy, Emergency Ambulance Service or the LeRoy Education Advancement Foundation.
