Charles Coghill - Class Of 1937

Charles O. "Jake" Coghill, 72, of Camden, died at 10:45 p.m. Feb. 17, 1992, at The Brethren’s Home, Flora, where he was admitted at 2 p.m. that afternoon. Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Kokomo, he was the son of Orliff "Doc" and Grace Myers Coghill. He had been a Camden resident for six years and had lived in Delphi before that. He married Ruby Phillips Templeton on April 21, 1971, in Frankfort, and she survives. He was a city policeman in Delphi from 1946-1966, and later worked in security at Globe Valve Corp. He attended Delphi High School. He was a member of Fairhaven New Life Church in Mulberry. Also surviving are three sons, Danny C. Coghill of Lafayette, Alan W. Coghill of Rt. 2, Brookston, and Douglas E. Coghill of Camden; a daughter, Diana Coghill of Osceola; three stepsons, Don Templeton and A.P. Templeton, both of Dayton, Ohio, and Bill Templeton of Knoxville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Anna Mae Terry of Knoxville, and Joyce Haynes of Camden; two brothers, Fred Coghill of Delphi and Paul Coghill of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Betty Wolf of Delphi; 34 grandchildren and 24 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Horn Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Haynes officiating. Friends m ay call from 4-8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Morning Heights Cemetery, Rt. 3, Delphi. Memorials may be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association.
