Barbara Ann Downing, 57, of Lafayette, died at 3:05 a.m. June 15, 1992, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, where she had been a patient for two days. Born Nov. 13, 1934, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of George K. and Bertha Marie Price Downing. She attended Pittsburg grade school and Delphi High School. She had lived in Lafayette for the last 35 years. She was a dietitian in the cafeteria at St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center for 25 years. She also had worked several years in the cafeteria at Home Hospital, and before that, at the Indiana Veterans Home. Surviving are four brothers, Leonard Downing of Apache Junction, Ariz.; Richard Downing of Claypool, Ariz.; Robert Downing of New Paris, Ohio; and Marion "Tim" Downing of Springfield, Ohio; four sisters, Irene Sweet of Gas City, Helen Fritz of Lupton, Mich., Jane Rice of Frankfort, and Minda "Mindy" Joslin of Payson, Ariz. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Horn Funeral Home with Pastor Harry Hargis officiating. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today. Burial will be in Burrows Cemetery.
