Thomas Peterson - Class Of 1947

Thomas Peterson Jr., 74, of Delphi, died June 15, 2002, at his residence. He had been in ill health the last six months. Born Oct. 26, 1927, in Carroll County, he was the son of Thomas and Opal Metz Peterson. His marriage was to Thelma J. Randle on Oct. 11, 1947, in Flora, and she survives. He farmed in Tippecanoe Township for more than 30 years. Mr. Peterson attended Delphi High School and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was stationed in Hawaii from March 1946 to September 1947. He worked in radar and was a mail clerk. He was a member of Delphi Mt. Olive Masonic Lodge 48, Scottish Rite Valley-Indianapolis, Order of Eastern Star, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 2570, Monticello. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. Also surviving are one daughter, Marsha Alspaugh of Flora; a son, Larry Peterson of Delphi; three brothers, Max Peterson, William Peterson, and Donald Peterson, all of Delphi; a sister, Carol Jefferies of Delphi; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Services were Tuesday at Abbott Funeral Home with Rev. Dan, Gottschalk officiating. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Home Hospital Hospice.
