Alva Mohler - Class Of 1947

Alvin E. Mohler, 74, died at 6:21 PM Friday, May 30, 2003, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. He had been a patient there for 3 1/2 weeks. Born March 25, 1929, in Delphi, he attended Delphi schools and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Alice M. Thompson in Delphi on Jan. 13, 1962; she survives. Mr. Mohler was a master plumber pipe fitter for 33 years. He started in the trade in 1956, and joined Local 157 Pipe Fitters Union of Terre Haute in 1977. He retired in June of 1989. He was an active member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Delphi. He was also a member of Delphi American Legion Post 75, the Delphi Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9383, and Logansport Eagles Lodge 323. He was a local volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. His hobbies were fishing and gardening. He and his wife had wintered in Fort Myers, FL, since his retirement. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Edward Floyd of Lafayette and Robert (Diane) Floyd of Delphi; four daughters, Sharon (Fred) Perez of Lafayette, Karen Mohler of North Carolina, Kathy (Earl) Ingmire of Logansport, and Cindy (Dave) Goodin of Monticello; three sisters, Mary Spiacer of Minnesota, Alberta Ensinger, and Betty (Bob) Perkins, both of Fort Myers, FL; 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William; a grandson, Joshua Steckle; two brothers and one sister. Service June 3 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Delphi; internment IOOF Pittsburg with Delphi American Legion military rites. --
