Marybelle James (Burns) - Class Of 1941

Marybelle Louise Burns, 93, of Lafayette, died at St. Elizabeth East Emergency Room at 7:17 AM Tuesday August 2, 2016. She had been a resident of Rosewalk Village the past three years.

Marybelle was born in Delphi, IN April 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Alice M. Leslie James and was a graduate of Delphi High School. She married Charles J. Burns in Lafayette in 1942, and they later divorced. Charles died August 22, 1974.

Marybelle was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and VFW Post 1154 Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed at Landis-Gyr, retiring in 1988, and had previously worked at Brown Rubber. Surviving is a son, Charles T. Burns of West Lafayette; and by three brothers, Samuel and Bill James, both of Delphi, IN and by Jerry James (wife Mary) of Pittsburg, IN.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Roger and Ronald James; and by a sister, Phyllis Cox. Friends may call at the Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home, 1104 Columbia St., Lafayette from 9:30 AM until the service at 10:30 AM Monday August 8, Fr.
