Florence Smith (Pearson) - Class Of 1940

Florence L Pearson, 78, of Delphi, died at 9:30 p.m. Oct. 14, 2000, in Hickory Creek Village, Delphi. Born April 25, 1922, in Radnor, she was the daughter of Lester D. and Hazel Fetterhoff Smith. She married Charles N. Pearson on Oct. 26, 1939, in Delphi, and he died Jan. 24, 1987. Mrs. Pearson retired from Globe Valve in 1984, after working there for more than 25 years. She was a member of Radnor United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting and playing bingo. She attended Delphi High School. Surviving are three daughters, Charlotte Scott of Sheridan, Diana Shockley of Delphi, and Trudy Chapman of Radnor; two sons, Barry Pearson of Jessup, Georgia and Charles R. "Rob" Pearson of Olympia Washington; four brothers, Robert Smith of Long Island, N.Y., Max Smith of Boca Rotan, Fla. and Leroy Smith and Duane Smith, both of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six step-great grandchildren. One brother and one grandchild preceded her in death. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi with Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial is in Zion Cemetery, Flora.
