Devon Humbarger - Class Of 1938

Devon Humbarger, 97, formerly of Flora, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, February 17, 2017 in Peru, IN.

Devon was born to the late Fred E. and Ona Rohrabaugh Humbarger on November 22, 1919 in Bourban, IN. Devon spent all of his life in the Carroll County area farming for over 50 years.

He married Pauline L. Ross on June 26, 1943 in Flora and she survives. Devon was a 1938 graduate of Delphi High School. Devon was an active member of the former Flora First Brethren Church, serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher and other church offices. They later became members of Living Faith Church of the Brethren in Flora. He also was a member of the Farm Bureau and served on the REMC Board of Directors.

Surviving with his wife Pauline of 73 years are a son and daughter-in-law: Dr. Carl D. and Sandy Humbarger of Peru, IN.

Daughter and son-inlaw: Carol Marie and Ron Pruden of Bloomington, IL. Four grandchildren: Charles Devon and Elizabeth Humbarger, Carl Douglas Humbarger, Chad Darin and Liz Humbarger and Chris David Humbarger. Great-grandchildren: Madison Taylor and Hayden Devon. He is preceded by his parents, two brothers: Earl and Francis and one granddaughter Carla Marie Humbarger.

Devon’s family invites friends to call Friday, February 24, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. till time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Wheeler Family Funeral Home-Baker Chapel, 204 South Center St. Flora, IN 46929. Pastor Jeff Tomson officiating. Burial to follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery.

Memorial may be given in Devon Humbarger memory to Living Faith Church of the Brethren or Gideons.
