William Harner - Class Of 1939

William H. “Bill” Harner, 63, Rt. 2, Delphi, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 9, 1985, at 12:45 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been admitted Monday evening. Born June 7, 1921, in Delphi, he was the son of Sherman and Elsie Wandrie Harner. His marriage to Delphi to Lucille Humm was Aug, 11, 1945. Harner retired in January 1984 from Globe Valve in Delphi where he had worked 35 years in the foundry. He was a member of the Delphi VFW Post and had attended Delphi schools. He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran. Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Mrs. William (Patsy) Delaney of Rt. 2, Delphi; one son. Thomas L. Harner of Rt. 3, Delphi; two brothers, Wilbur “Webb” and Glenn Harner, both of Delphi; two sisters, Margaret Best of Delphi and Alma Austin of Lafayette; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant brother. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Horn Funeral Home, Delphi, with the Rev. David Smalley officiating. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery with military rites, friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
