Thomas Lathrope - Class Of 1924

Funeral services for Thomas H. Lathrope, 45, former Delphi resident who died of a heart attack Friday afternoon at Sioux City, Iowa, were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Jackson funeral home In Delphi. The Rev. James W. Rankin officiated and burial was made in the Masonic cemetery where the Delphi lodge conducted Masonic services. Lathrope was born March 26, 1906 in Delphi, the son of Emerson and Florence (Kerlin) Lathrope. He attended the Delphi and Winchester high schools and was graduated from Wabash College where he was affiliated with Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity. For a number of years he represented Indianapolis and Kokomo newspapers and was engaged in radio work. In 1949, he organized the Lathrope advertising agency in Sioux City. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church and the Masons. His first wife preceded him in death and in 1938 he was married to the former Patricia Dalton at Jackson, Miss., who survives. Others surviving are: a daughter by his first marriage, Mrs. Louis Olsen, Crawfordsville; three children by his second marriage, Thomas E., Mary K., and Michael, all at home; a grandchild at Crawfordsville, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Rankins, Indianapolis.
