Julie A. Collins, 58, of Lafayette passed away with family by her side, on
November 11, 2024, after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. Julie
was born on November 26, 1965, to Eugene and Linda (Whitsell) Lane. On
August 26, 2014, Julie married her lifelong friend and Soul Mate, Richard
(Brad) Collins and he survives.
Julie spent her life caring for and tending to others. She was a proud
member of “The Forty & Eight” veterans’ organization where she served for
over 12 years. She always volunteered to organize, shop, and attend all of
the charity events at the Forty & Eight. Julie had a special place in her
heart for the men and woman who sacrificed themselves for this great
nation. Her passing on Veteran’s Day only seemed to highlight her love for
those who served.
When not volunteering Julie spent time reading, painting, drawing, and
listening to all types of music. Her favorite song was “Only God Knows
Why” by Kid Rock. Julie was a great friend, and she touched many lives
with her caring and generous spirit.
Surviving family include her husband, Richard B. Collins of Lafayette; Son,
Bryan Walck of Lafayette; Mother, Linda Quimby of Otterbein; Brother,
Jerry (Stacey) Lane and several other relatives and friends. She is
proceeded in death by her father, Eugene Lane.
Due to the sudden nature of Julie’s passing no events are currently
scheduled. The family as well as her friends at the Forty & Eight are
working to finalize a memorial celebration in Julie’s honor. Shoemaker
Funeral Home, Otterbein is assisting the Collins family. Visit
