Marty Kennedy - Class Of 1984

Marty Kennedy

Marty passed away October 16, 1987, at the age of 22.  The cause was suicide due to severe depression.  He is survived by his parents, Ronald & Lona Kennedy, sister Margo Kennedy-McQueen, sister Melissa Kennedy-Phegley, brother Jack Kennedy, and 2 nephews; Kegan Pinelli & Noah Phegley.

Marty was full of life and had a smile for everyone. He loved bike riding, skateboarding, motorcycle riding and knew nearly everyone in Delphi, and the surrounding area. He was very friendly and kind to everyone. He loved fishing at the Oakdale Dam area with friends. He liked to play basketball, baseball & go canoeing & floating on the Tippecanoe River. He spent many summers at Indiana Beach & enjoyed the lakes in Monticello. He liked going to concerts and his favorite bands were Boston, AC/DC, Rush & Bruce Springstein. He often was very generous to everyone he would meet. He was quick to give you a jacket if you were cold, or a drink if you were thirsty, or buy a gift if it was your birthday or a special occasion. He would often spend his whole paycheck on his friends and making sure they were having fun. He worked as a Tree Trimmer in Carroll County for several years making sure everyone had electric power during the storms which often caused outages. The week before he died he cut down a tree for a widow woman for free before it fell on her house. He was always doing things like that for others. His best friends were; Mark, Cameron, Kenny, Vince, Keith, Doug, David, Scott, Kevin, Candy, Dusty & Missy. He had many more friends and people often told us how friendly he was to everyone. He had the kindest brown eyes that you have ever seen and the biggest smile. He was loved very much by his family and friends, and will never be forgotten.
