Charles Shank

Charles William "Bill" Shank, 73, of Delphi, died Wed-Oct 16, 2013 at 4:50pm at his residence, after a battle with cancer. He was born Sept 21, 1940 in Decatur, IL, to the late Charles William & Alice Dunfee Shank Sr. His marriage was to Kathy J. Butcher in Flora, on Feb 14, 1977, and she survives. He was a 1958 graduate of Delphi High School, and attended Valparaiso University. He worked for over 50 years for C.W. Shank Construction in Delphi, started by his father, which Bill owned and operated until his retirement in July 2013. He was a former Mason with the Delphi Masonic Lodge, and a former member of the Delphi Jaycee's Club. He enjoyed his horses, raising them, and going on trail rides locally and in other states. He was an avid woodworker, and loved his many flower gardens around his home. Bill was a man's man, hard working, straight shooter, friend for life, by those who knew him. He dearly loved his wife, daughter, and granddaughter Inara. Surviving: wife-Kathy J. Shank of Delphi; daughter-Jami & Daniel Riley of Durham, NC; granddaughter-Inara Quinn Riley. Preceded in death by a son C.W. Shank III; inf daughter Megan.
